Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the staff of the Westborough Public Library, our town is one of the few library buildings in the immediate area that is open currently during the pandemic. Our staff members are committed to offering access to our collections and computer resources to all within the limits of safety and public health.
In order to remain open and safe for patrons and staff, the library requires that patrons over the age of five wear masks covering both nose and mouth at all times within the library. Face masks are recommended for children ages two to five. Social distancing is also required.
Masks protect not only the wearer, but those around the wearer. If everyone wears a mask, the chances of transmitting or acquiring COVID-19 are greatly reduced. This is important for everyone, particularly our dedicated staff members who remain in the building for hours at a time.
Anyone who is unable to wear a mask for medical reasons can use the library’s curbside services, including book delivery and Wi-Fi access. Through curbside delivery, the library can also loan Chromebooks to patrons using the library’s Wi-Fi outside the building.
For the safety of all, no one can be allowed into the library without a mask covering the wearer’s nose and mouth for their entire visit. Anyone who does not properly wear a mask at all times will be asked to leave the library.
Those who choose not to wear a mask or don’t wear a mask properly are endangering not only their own health and that of other patrons, and staff, but also the status of the library itself. Without these safety measures, the library would be forced to limit services to curbside delivery or close completely.
These guidelines follow those established in Gov. Baker’s November 6, 2020 order for masks in public places, even when socially distancing from others. They also allow the Westborough Public Library to remain open safely.
As trustees of the library, we are proud of and grateful to our staff for their commitment to the community. Please honor that commitment with us by always wearing a mask properly and social distancing within the library.
