We’re Moving Home!

The wait is almost over! The Westborough Public Library is getting ready to move back home to 55 West Main Street.

After more than a year in our temporary location, we’re entering the final stretch of the renovation project. Moving an entire library takes time, and we will need to close for several weeks while we move and prepare the renovated building for reopening.

Moving Timeline

September 9–23
Limited services at temporary space (1500 Union Street) as we begin moving technology, furniture, and equipment.

September 23 at 5:00 PM – early November

Our temporary location at 1500 Union Street will close at 5:00 PM on September 23. The Library will remain closed while we move, set up the building, and prepare to reopen at 55 West Main Street.

First week of November
We are planning to reopen at 55 West Main Street. The exact date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

Limited Services: September 9–23

As we prepare for the move, things will begin to look a little different at 1500 Union Street. You’ll notice books shifting, furniture moving, and spaces changing, and some services will be limited.

Beginning September 9:

• Public printing will not be available.
• Public Wi-Fi will be limited.
• Some public computers and other technology may have limited availability.

The Library will remain open through 5:00 PM on Wednesday, September 23.

The final date for placing new holds to be picked up at the Westborough Public Library will be September 15th. Items that are on the holdshelf as of September 15th can be picked up until close on Wednesday, September 23rd.

During the Closure

While the Westborough Public Library is closed, Westborough residents can continue to use their Westborough library cards at other C/W MARS libraries.

Nearby libraries include Northborough, Southborough, Grafton, Shrewsbury, Hopkinton, Marlborough, and Hudson, as well as many others throughout the C/W MARS network.

Our digital resources will also remain available throughout the closure.

Reopening

We are planning to reopen at 55 West Main Street during the first week of November. As we get closer, we’ll announce the official reopening date and share more information about holds, returns, and other services during the closure.
